The Ant And The Grasshopper

This  one is a little different….
Two  Different Versions …
Two  Different Morals

OLD  VERSION

The  ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The  grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come  winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The  grasshopper has no  food or shelter, so he dies  out in the cold.

MORAL  OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN  VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come  winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide  pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit  the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green …’

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, ‘We Shall Overcome’.

Then Rev Al Sharpton’s assistant has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper
while he damns the ants. The Reverend Al cannot attend as he has contractual commitments to appear on his MSNBC show for which he is paid over two million dollars a year to complain that rich people do not care.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview on ‘The View’ that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the ‘Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act’ retroactive to the beginning of
the  summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The  story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper  is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken
over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous, and peaceful neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of  the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Befree lo careful how you vote in 2016.

This Senior Citizen Nailed It!!!

Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming , Co-Chair of Obama’s deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared “Social Security” to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.August, 2010.
Here’s a response in a letter from a unknown fellow in Montana …I think he is a little ticked off!   He also tells it like it is !
—————————————————————————————————————————-

“Hey Alan, let’s get a few things straight..

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme
that would have made Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67.  NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5  I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an  extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6.  I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why?  Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To add insult to injury, you label us “greedy” for calling “bullshit” on your incompetence. Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU.1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?
2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?
3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?
4.  What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have  you exempted yourself and your political cronies?
It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the “greedy” ones.  It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.  And for what?  Votes.  That’s right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers.  You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.
And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!  And if we heed what this great statesman said over 200 years ago, and has been echoed by the great conservatives of our time, then we as a people will take positive action in November and reclaim our great country!
Where Is The Outrage?
I am appalled at our State Legistatures and I am equally appalled at the apathy of the general public here in the State of Washington. After suspending voter approved I-960, they also axed “transparency” requirements, including advisory votes on any tax increases approved by the Legislature and a requirement that the names of lawmakers voting for tax increases be printed in voters pamphlets. Gee how convenient that was attached to add insult to injury. Where is the public outrage? Where is the outcry? Where are all the people screaming that infamous line from “Network”, “We are mad as hell and we’re not going to take this anymore!” ? Read the following that I received from my State Representative and after that I hope you do as I will and find out which of these thieving scumbags voted yes on this and work on removing them from office. If you are too busy, or lazy, or just don’t want to worry about it, then keep your mouths shut when you start seeing more of your hard earned money leaving your pocketbooks!!!
Dear friend,
Yesterday, Majority House Democrats unveiled their 2010 supplemental operating budget that includes more than $857 million in new tax increases. Simply put, government spending is out of control.
After suspending the Taxpayer Protection Act (I-960) last week, the majority party now intends to fill a $2.7 billion budget shortfall by substantially raising taxes, relying on one-time federal stimulus dollars, and transferring funds from other dedicated state accounts. Despite being in the worst recession since World War II, the majority party wants to spend nearly $31 billion and actually increase spending in one program (General Assistance Unemployable) by a whopping $50 million. This approach will only leave $269 million in state reserves. Here is a snapshot of their proposal:
  • $857 million in new tax increases;
  • $641 million in federal dollars;
  • $653 million in spending cuts;
  • $236 million in state budget transfers; and
  • $311 million from state reserves.
When factoring in one-time transfers, federal stimulus money and new taxes, the majority party’s operating budget proposes only a 1 percent reduction in spending. This is absolutely unsustainable. We cannot repeat the budget mistakes of the last five years. Now is the time to reject tax increases, and embrace fiscal discipline and state government reform. Below is how I feel we can reach these goals for our budget.
Solutions for the operating budget
First and foremost, we should not suspend the Taxpayer Protection Act (I-960), which voters approved in 2007. This required a two-thirds vote of the Legislature for tax increases. Senate Bill 6130, which was signed into law by the governor today, removes this taxpayer protection and clears the way for tax increases. I opposed this bill and you can read my statement on it here. The operating budget can, and should be, balanced without raising taxes.
Second, we must prioritize state government to focus on education, public safety and the protection of our most vulnerable. This means our state should get out of the business of running liquor stores, insurance companies and other programs that can be handled by the private sector. I also feel we must reduce the size of the state labor force and freeze state employee salaries. It does not make sense that many state employees will be receiving raises at a time when the private sector is reducing wages and losing jobs. Since February 2008, approximately 173,500 jobs have been lost in the private sector in our state, while 7,800 government jobs have been added. These tough economic times offer our state a great opportunity for real reform, but there is a reluctance to challenge the status quo in Olympia.
Finally, we need to reform our budget process. You might be surprised to learn our state had a $1.8 billion surplus four years ago, driven by extraordinary real estate excise tax revenue. So, what happened? State spending grew by 33 percent, more than $8 billion, from 2005 to 2008. We must implement budget reforms to ensure sustainability, accountability and transparency. For example, I support measures that would:
In closing, there must be a mind shift in Olympia when it comes to fiscal policy. The way forward to a sustainable budget is to create new jobs – not raise taxes. You can learn more about the ideas I support to strengthen our economy by clicking here.
If you feel the same way, please contact the members of the House Ways and Means Committee and let them know that you demand a no-new-taxes budget. For their contact information, please click here. We can fight for fiscal responsibility and sustainable budgeting in Olympia, but I need your help. Together, we can make a difference!
545 People
This came to me in my email thought you might find it interesting if you haven’t seen it!
545 People
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
How Many Zeros in a Billion?
How many zeros in a billion? This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it. While this thought is still fresh in our brain… let’s take a look at New Orleans . It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number….what does it mean?
A. Well… if you are one of the 484,674 residents of NewOrleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,511.
B. Or… if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,328014.
C. Or… if you are a family of four…your family gets $2,066,044. Washington , D.C
HELLO! Are all your calculators broken?? Accounts Receivable Tax  – Building Permit Tax  – CDL License Tax  – Cigarette Tax  – Corporate Income Tax  – Dog License Tax  – Federal Income Tax  – Federal Unemployment Tax  (FUTA) –  Fishing License Tax  –  Food License Tax  – Fuel Permit Tax –  Gasoline Tax  – Hunting License Tax  –  Inheritance Tax  –  Inventory Tax  – IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax) –  IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) –  Liquor Tax –  Luxury Tax –  Marriage License Tax –  Medicare Tax  – Property Tax –  Real Estate Tax  – Service charge taxes –  Social Security Tax  – Road Usage Tax (Truckers) –  Sales Taxes –  Recreational Vehicle Tax  –  School Tax –  State Income Tax –  State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) –  Telephone Federal Excise Tax –  Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax –  Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Tax  – Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax  – Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax –  Telephone State and Local Tax –  Telephone Usage Charge Tax  –  Utility Tax –  Vehicle License Registration Tax –  Vehicle Sales Tax  –  Watercraft Registration Tax –  Well Permit Tax –  Workers Compensation Tax
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt. We had the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What happened? Can you spell ‘politicians!’ And I still have to press “1” for English.  What the heck happened?????
The Global Poverty Act
SENATE BILL S. 2433 THE GLOBAL POVERTY ACT
According to David Bossie, President of the group ‘Citizens United for American Sovereignty’, based out of Merrifield Virginia, website: http://www.citizensunited.org/
The above- mentioned Senate Bill (S. 2433) is a piece of legislation in the works that all Americans need to know about and know now! This bill, sponsored by none other than Sen. Barack Obama, with the backing of Joe Biden on the Foreign Relations Committee, and liberal democrats in Congress, is nothing short of a massive giveaway of American wealth around the world, and a betrayal of the public trust, because, if passed, this bill would give over many aspects of our sovereignty to the United Nations.
The noble sounding name of this bill, ‘The Global Poverty Act’ is actually a Global Tax, payable to the United Nations, that will be required of all American taxpayers. If passed in the Senate, the House has already passed it, this bill would require the U.S. to increase our foreign aid by $65 BILLION per year, or $845 BILLION over the next 13 years! That’s on top of the billions of dollars in foreign aid we already pay out!
In addition to the economic burdens this potential law would place on our precarious economy, the bill, if passed in the Senate, would also endanger our constitutionally protected rights and freedoms by obligating us to meet certain United Nations mandates.
According to Senator Obama, we should establish these United Nations’ goals as benchmarks for U.S. spending. What are they?
The creation of a U.N. International Criminal Court having the power to try and convict American citizens and soldiers without any protection from the U.S. Constitution.
A standing United Nations Army forcing U.S. soldiers to serve under U.N. command.
A Gun Ban on all small arms and light weapons –which would repeal our Second Amendment right to bear arms.
The ratification of the ‘ Kyoto ‘ global warming treaty and numerous other anti-American measures. I don’t believe the Kyoto Treaty is anti American though!
Recently, the Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations (where Sen. Joe Biden sits) approved this plan by a voice vote without any discussion! Why all the secrecy? If Senators Obama and Biden are so proud of this legislation, then why don’t they bring it out into the light of day and let the American people have a look at it instead of hiding it behind closed doors and sneaking it through Congress for late night votes.
It may be only a matter of time before this dangerous legislation reaches a floor vote in the full body of the Senate.
Please write or call, email your representatives, the White House, the media, or anyone you think will listen, and express your opinions regarding this Global Tax giveaway and betrayal of the American people at a time when our nation and our people are already heavily burdened with the threats to our freedoms and economic prosperity.
By the way, I did not vote for Obama!
No AIG Bailout!
This is circulating the email highway and I thought it interesting. What do you think? And what about the bailouts of the rest of the financial world coming our way?
I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+  into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college – it’ll be there
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs
Invest in the market – capital drives growth
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+  including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company
that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of trickling out
a puny $1000.00 ( “vote buy” ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG – liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here’s the rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.
Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust m y fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .
And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam. An interesting idea
